Overview

The Moray Medical Boat - series 01 - is the most common variant of the Moray Star Boat. Identifiable on the first view by its signal medi-red™ painted hull, the Moray Medical Boat usually carries a load of medical supplies, namely prescription drugs. It goes without saying that this peculiar combination - look and load - make it a common victim for piracy, too.

In contrast to the standard Moray Star Boat, the Medical variant can fit a Cargo Bay Expansion but comes without a factory-installed laser. It also cannot be enhanced with the Military Shield Enhancement. The Navy Medical Ship is a refitted Moray Medical Boat (Neolite), specially designed for battle-zone search and rescue.

When an update of the GalCop interstellar conventions prohibited medical ships from carrying heavy weaponry the Moray Medical Boat - series 02 was designed.

The Moray Medical Boat features in chapter 2 of The Dark Wheel.

Remarks

While in the The Space Traders Flight Training Manual (p58, from Classic Elite) the dimensions are 60 × 25 × 65 ft, the current core-ship model measures 59 x 29 x 70 m. Note that Jane's Galactic Shipset restores many of the Oolite ships to something more resembling their original dimensions, for those so desirous.
