History
At the bankruptcy auction of the Lambda Freighter the Imperial Industries Consortium was able to purchase the patent and all the rights to this craft for a very reasonable price. After a review and much redesign, the Lambda Liner T5-T01 was offered on the open market.
Lambda Liner T5-T01
Designed as an alternative to an Anaconda (Oolite) and a Imperial Freighter it didn't offer the same cargo space but was considerably faster and offered a medium armament. While not able to dock at most stations 2 Interplanetary Shuttles were attached to speed up loading and provide additional emergency crafts. Especially dictatorship worlds use them for inter-system transportation.

Lambda Liner T5-M01
Originally designed as a military transport and landing ship it already was equipped with a from a Vortex adapted missile defense screen (MDS). However, the engineers hit a jackpot when some scientists from the HWG church joined the team. Their on quirium crystal based reflective hull overlay (RHO) not only made you invisible on most scanners it additionally disrupted target locks on the ship to a certain extend. After the team managed to rebuild the emergency micro-jump (EMJ) from the Vortex as well the vessel became quite deadly. Well, it wasn't as reliable as the original, some liners disappeared in witchspace to never be seen again. Nevertheless, the management gave the thumbs up to go ahead.
To deploy ground troops faster 2 Drop Shuttles and several Landing Crafts were attached to every ship.
After a first (very impressive) demonstration a unanimous decision was made that this ship could only be sold to member worlds of the consortium and their allies. The entire production was limited to only 1 shipyard which slowed down deliveries but improved security. Soon after the Galactic Navy recognized the superiority of the Lambda Liner T5-M01 they tried to place an order of 1000 ships but got rejected. Navy Intelligence was ordered to infiltrate the shipyard and retrieve the secrets. When multiple tries failed on a grim day the navigation systems of a liner malfunctioned causing a big explosion that killed nearly 100,00 people and vaporized the liner and the shipyard. With all invention details gone there was no way to continue the production. It is believed that at this point dictatorship worlds started to replace GalCop patrols with local security forces.

Lambda Liner T5-M02
A small capital-ship and escort carrier. Armed with 8 missile slots, 12 laser mounts, and 6 turrets the first capital-ship of the consortium had quite an impressive firepower. While still equipped with an MDS and EMJ it was decided that an RHO will not be part of the standard production.
Notable Features (T5-M01 / T5-M02)
- Missile Defense Screen (MDS) - a number of automatic hull-mounted microwave cannons which, as a further line of defense, are linked to the ship's ECM systems.
- Reflective Hull Overlay (RHO) - based on quirium crystal the 5-dimensional emission of this overlay makes the ship undetectable for most scanners. Furthermore, the target-locking systems of an attacking vessel are disrupted to a certain extend.
- Emergency micro-jumping (EMJ) - when the energy is reaching a critical level during combat and a minimum of 0.50 fuel is left the ship will attempt an in-system witchspace micro-jump to remove the ship from the combat area. Unlike the EMJ of the Vortex this design could malfunction. Around 10% of the ships disappeared in witchspace and never were seen again.

Known Issues
These textures were designed for V 1.88, the latest Oolite V 1.90 is using a much brighter light model and therefore rendering the appearance of the ships. If you prefer the previous light here is a tip from another_commander: modifying shaders
