Equipment & Weapons

  • Laser Combat Reimagined: pulse laser gets longer range, several new laser types, not all ships can carry all lasers.
  • Missile Combat Reimagined: fragile ECMs & 4 types of missile
  • New lasers 21 new lasers: availability depends on which species inhabits the planet!
  • Tech Shuffle: increases TL at which fuel, cargo bay extensions and ECM are bought, thus changing early gameplay
  • Weapon Laws means that the government system now affects availability (not just the TL)


Mechanics


Recommendations

When not talking about himself in the third person, Redspear likes to include some of his own recommended oxps in the 'signature' of his bulletin board posts. These are all oxps maintained by him and so he's well placed to understand how they interact.


The prospective user is encouraged to investigate (via the links) any that might be of interest prior to downloading. Some of his oxps are largely cosmetic, others make much more significant changes to the game which won't be for everyone. They should however all 'play nicely' together in any combination that the user sees fit.


Ships

  • FdL Lightspeeder: a sleeker, faster, Fer-de-Lance
  • Fighter-Explorers: adds modified versions of the Krait and Mamba that have hyperdrives but only a pulse laser by default.
  • Jane's Galactic Shipset: resizes and reattributes core shipset based on primary Classic Elite sources. In many cases changes one or more of mass, speed, energy, recharge, missiles, cargo, pitch and roll statistics.


Systems

  • Demand Driven Economy: new profitable runs which involve other commodities than just furs and computers
  • Paddling Pool: Turns the Leesti - Diso milk run into a much safer route for the beginning player.
  • Alien Systems OXZ: Accentuates differences between systems dominated by differing species (felines, avians, etc).


Experimentation

Redspear has been working with Diziet Sma in trying to rescale the sizes in Oolite to come out with something that is more realistic - but also playable.
