Origin

Spanning almost one eighth of the mysterious Takla Makan, Kob's ladder is the shortest and most dangerous route from Gal space to the outer reaches of sector 2. It is impossible to plot a course through Kob's ladder without having to run through at least one lawless system. This natural bottleneck is the perfect place to ply the trade of piracy. Launching from Usedge, Diuste and Dixeza, privateer bands can pick and choose their targets.

The hazards are considerable but the time savings and side trading opportunities are very tempting to both the foolhardy and the seasoned risk taker. This is reflected in the naming of the region; Kob being an ancient word meaning destiny and/or fortune.
