This is THE Oolite oxp suite for texturing every single "main planet" in the 8 Galaxies - all 2048 of them!

Introduction

Povray Planets aims to provide a high resolution texture for every planet in each galaxy - generated/rendered based on seed values in the spirit of Elite/Oolite.

These textures dovetail with the descriptions on the F7 page (data on "system") as well as the added text from the Famous Planets OXP and the Rough Guide to the Ooniverse.

They predate the addition of city night-lights to the vanilla game code in Oolite v.1.90.

Overview

All textures are provided as cube maps 512x3072.

Famous Planets OXP is based on Povray Planets.

Minimum Requirements

Oolite 1.75 or greater

This OXP was split such that the bulk of the scripting was provided by a base OXP, with the textures provided separately via Povray_Planets_GalaxyX_Textures. The aim of this was to allow modifications to behaviour and bugfixes to be released without the burden of another large download. Povray Planets base OXP 3KB - This only provides scripting support and is required by the texture OXPs. You no longer need this OXP to use Povray Planets. Its support for playing with other planet/system texturing OXP's is poorly written. No longer recommended.

Seams
