OK- here's my suggestion:
 +
 +
For the line: ''Only for ships added with the role 'trader'...''
 +
 +
Change it to something like this: ''Prior to v1.79, for "mother" ships added with the role 'trader'...''
 +
 +
After that sentence, add something like this: ''From v1.79 onwards, Oolite allows more flexibility in the type and number of ships escorting the "mother" ship.''
 +
 +
The '''Escorting ''other'' ships''' section looks good and (to me, at least) is entirely appropriate!

1) I feel that more examples are needed in our programming pages - as proved by your answer to [https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?p=287634#p287634 Reval on checking ship equipment].

2) I also feel that several worked examples of Javascript code, explaining "which bit of code is what" and commenting on the syntax (,_;==) would be of great use to us dumb pilots. Hence my bizarre pm with all the pictures of medieval commentaries! I'm not sure that one can do this on a wiki page...

Also, I stumbled across [https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2619 ''this''] which I've added here ([[The Dark Side]]) under "Understanding what really goes on". I don't know if you might want to refer to it in your essay. This dumb pilot found it most informative. The fourth thing I have found informative (after your essay, Ahruman's essay and LittleBear's piece) was [https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?p=278061#p278061 this conversation] with phkb.

We also talked about a guide to the JS reference pages.  Someone who's completely new to JS in general and Oolite JS in particular would probably get a migraine just blindly wading thru the pages.

I wuz told to come here to tawk. Why the hell is it so dark in here?

<Stumbles around. Stubs toe on a wiki>

Ouch! Damn it! People shouldn't leave wikis just lying around...

<Click>

Much better. Wow- very roomy. Let's see what I can fill this with...

In the beginning...

And so it begins. But then that should go without saying considering the headline...

Ahem... To be, or... Damn it- line?

Thank you.

Escorts

I added some gubbins to [Instructions] - my dumb pilot understanding of it is that the page purely deals with ships being protected by escorts, all of which are NPC's.

I added some links to OXP's which allow the player to escort other ships.

Can you please just run your eye over it to see that I didn't get the wrong end of the stick? Thank you!

OK- here's my suggestion:

For the line: Only for ships added with the role 'trader'...

Change it to something like this: Prior to v1.79, for "mother" ships added with the role 'trader'...

After that sentence, add something like this: From v1.79 onwards, Oolite allows more flexibility in the type and number of ships escorting the "mother" ship.

The Escorting other ships section looks good and (to me, at least) is entirely appropriate!

The Programming Pages (General)

Just to recap from our conversation last week,

1) I feel that more examples are needed in our programming pages - as proved by your answer to Reval on checking ship equipment.

Also, I stumbled across this which I've added here (The Dark Side) under "Understanding what really goes on". I don't know if you might want to refer to it in your essay. This dumb pilot found it most informative. The fourth thing I have found informative (after your essay, Ahruman's essay and LittleBear's piece) was this conversation with phkb.

I just skimmed it, but it looks like a great thread. I never saw it before- will have to give it a careful read-thru.

We also talked about a guide to the JS reference pages. Someone who's completely new to JS in general and Oolite JS in particular would probably get a migraine just blindly wading thru the pages.
