Overview
The Boa2 Skiff is to be found in the Neolite retextures as an extra add-on. It is designed as a shuttle. Faster, more manoeuverable and better armed than the regular boa, it has far fewer missile slots and hardly carries any cargo at all.
Simon B's comments
You buy the boa and boa class cruiser with a lifeboat - the skiff.
The skiff has no witchdrive.
The reason for the player edition is in case someone wants to write a script so when a boa player ejects, they can continue on in (as) the skiff. When they dock, the insurance restores the whole craft - or they can tool around the system for a bit.
I don't even know if it is possible but it's there for anyone who wants to try.
Right now, NPCs get to eject in their skiff.
It is likely that used skiffs may become available for sale in an oxp. I have been impressed with the wisdom of minimising non-standard content in the core ship set. There is some resistance to even having the skiffs there.
