Autopause

From Elite Wiki
Autopause in action: paused approaching an orbital station after "Yellow Alert" chosen. The extra stuff on the screen is due to the Telescope OXP
Setting Autopause to pause your game when you enter "Red Alert"

Pauses the game if something unexpected happens while you're in the bathroom!

Overview

This is for you - the player! Not for your Jameson or your ship!

If you are undertaking a boring 30-minute flight to a distant planet, or are sl-o-o-owly scooping interstellar fuel, this is the OXP you need.

You activate autopause, wander off to make a cup of coffee... and if something happens in-game, this OXP will pause the game for you at that point.

Usage

  • Activate the "Autopause" equipment (ideally when you are in "Green Alert" mode!).
  • Set the "Autopause" equipment mode to pause the game when your ship enters either "Yellow Alert" mode or "Red Alert" mode.
See Priming Equipment if you need more detail!

  • To deactivate, just unpause your game ("p" key)

Note on terminology

"Red Alert", "Yellow Alert" & "Green Alert" tend to be the descriptions most used on our Forum and this wiki for the "Alert Condition".

  • Red Alert indicates danger! That your ship has been targeted by at least one other inside your scanner radius - or that your energy banks are down, or that your altitude is too low, or that your cabin temperature is too high, et cetera.
  • Yellow Alert indicates that other powered items (ships, large stations) are inside your scanner radius (and that your Torus is mass-locked)
  • Green Alert indicates either empty space or the existence of unpowered items (asteroids, rock hermits) inside your scanner radius

Warning

This equipment is not perfect! Known issues involve crashing into asteroids (which do not change the game alert to red or yellow until you are dead!).

Gameplay and Balance Indicator

This OXP definitely makes things easier for you, the player!

As regards your Jameson, though...
