Revision as of 21:54, 3 October 2008
Thargoid is a small green furry creature from Alpha-Centuri (occasionally mistaken for a sick trumble), who in his spare time likes to wrestle balrogs, rescues dragons in distress from damsels and paint dust motes in interesting but luridly invisible colours.
Some of the above may not be 100% accurate (he swears he's blue, not green).
He has also written a few OXPs for Oolite, and has a couple more in progress, much to the annoyance of Mrs Thargoid and the little Thargons.
Please feel free to leave comments or to report problems with these OXPs on my talk page.
Released:
- Aquatics - Ships OXP, with future plans for shipyard station and mission.
Download - Aquatics v1.02. (Requires Oolite v1.71).
- Pods - New cargo pods and pod features. Includes fuel, missile, large-capacity and empty pods, plus some which explode, don't scoop right, jam in the scoops or even explode in the cargo bay, breaching the hull.
Oh and I succumbed and added the trumble pod too, much as I wasn't going to...
Download - Pods v1.01. (Requires Oolite v1.71).
- Pods UPS Pack - Extension to the Pods OXP to impliment some of the pods to the UPS Courier OXP's own branded pods. Note that both Pods and UPS Courier need to be installed for this to work and be a proper player experience.
Download - Pods UPS Courier add-on v1.00. (Requires Oolite v1.71).
- Energy Equipment - Two new pieces of equipment, the emergency charge device (ECD) and the emergency energy unit (EEU). Both are single-use devices, the ECD a pylon-based player triggered device that adds a top-up to the ships energy banks, and the EEU a system-fitted version that is automatically triggered when energy levels become critical.
Download - Energy Equipment v1.02. (Requires Oolite v1.65).
- Drones - Three new drones to aid the player (and others) in combat. One a combat drone with lasers, the second an enhanced version also packing a light warhead and the last a specialised anti-Thargoid drone. All can be picked up again after combat (and sometimes reused) if they survive combat, and are the Aquarian Shipbuilding Corp's answer to the Tharglet robot fighter.
Download - Drones v1.00. (Requires Oolite v1.70).
- Welcome Mat - Special software upgrade and optional equipment bolt-on for the ships communications software. By locking onto the system's witchspace beacon, detailed information with regard to it's planetary biography and system safety is downloaded after connection (which can take up to 60s). However if purchased the add-on equipment automatically deals with the connection and transfer, giving instant information. Designed to be compatible and adjustable with OXPConfig.
Download - Welcome Mat v1.04. (Requires Oolite v1.70).
- Probe - Scanning probe missile, which flies for 100km away from the ship, scanning and reporting back on ships found at the half-way point of the flight and on arrival at its destination. It then about-faces and comes back to the ship for fuel scooping and re-use.
Download - Probe v1.01. (Requires Oolite v1.70).
- Repair 'Bots - Pylon-stored and triggered nanobots which can repair damaged ships systems. Base (trunk equipment) version operational, plus first batch of OXP equipment (by request - OXP writers wishing to have their kit added please PM me via the Oolite forum).
Download - Repair Bots v0.99. (Requires Oolite v1.71).
- Missile Rack - Racks of three mini-missiles which mount on single weapons pylons. The missiles are smaller and so slower, less powerful and of shorter range than standard ones, but each can be targetted and fired separately. They come in two varieties, standard and ECM-hardened. Racks cannot be refilled, and once empty they are automatically ejected and self-destruct once they reach a safe distance from the ship.
Download - Missile Rack v1.00. (Requires Oolite v1.65).
Under development, planned or concept ideas:
- To Catch a Thargoid - Some new Thargoid ships, plus a mission.
- Brigadoon - Pure play mission with the mysterious planet which doesn't often appear.
- Icons - Some classic ships for the Ooniverse. Initial ideas include the Concoorde, the Starship Titoonic and the Discwoorld.
