#REDIRECT The HPA Saga

The Azure Sunset is a Long Range Cruiser owned by Norman Mosser.  It is infamous throughout the Galaxy as the only non military ship to house a Huge Plasma Accelerator and having played the starring role in the Fort Donaldson Debacle (although R.I.G used the phrase "HPA Sarrgggaaa" which caught on with the majority of the population).

Origins
The ship which became the Azure Sunset was first christened as the Abraham's Son.  The ship had a long and successful career as a cargo hauler until Mosser purchased it through several front companies.

Transformation
Mosser immediately began alterations to the ship.  First on the list was adding a weapon mount capable of holding the Huge Plasma Accelerator he had just stolen.  The systems and wiring to support the weapon were next in line.  Standard armament was also added, as well as several Mosser-esque additions such as clone vats and specialist medical facilities.

During the build phase, his second in command Mary Darkes ran the ship, as Mosser and his co-conspirator Marcus had business elsewhere.

The ships armaments when she was ready for her first flight were:

1 x Huge Plasma Accelerator

? x Beam Lasers

? x Small Plasma Accelerators

The HPA Sarrgggaaa
The Azure Sunset was the critical component in an attempt to kill the Crown Prince of the Empire to allow Marcus, a bastard royal, to assume the position of next in line for the throne.  The ship was intended to destroy the Fort Donalds space station orbiting Capitol in the Achenar system. The plot was ultimately a failure, due to both the courage of Alliance intelligence agents and a pair of bounty hunters, and the axiom 'no honour among thieves'.  Marcus tried to dispose of Mosser but this resulted in a malfunction of the HPA.  When the Imperial Navy arrived, the Azure Sunset engaged in battle and barely managed to escape.

Hiding in the Darkness
The Azure Sunset found refuge with a secret organisation who fixed the ship and repaired the HPA.  Norman ultimately abandoned the ship, leaving it on an automated jump sequence to keep it hidden.  He went in search of Raxxla while the Azure Sunset hid in the dark. . .

The Return of the Sunset
Norman returned to known space, needing the Azure Sunset back.  As he searched for the ship, an independent commander, Vasquith de Havilland and his co-pilot stumbled upon it.  As he collected information on the ship, he was ambushed by an unknown type of ship.  In the ensuing battle, they managed to escape.

Eventually, de Havilland teamed up with Norman Mosser to reclaim the ship.  At the same time, a federal officer, Maegil with Mack Winston gained access to the ships coordinates and boarded the ship.

Norman and his crew engaged Maegil and took command of the ship.  They hyperspaced to a secret dry dock, but were ambushed by both  Imperial and Federal forces.  After a huge space battle, the mortally wounded Azure Sunset escaped into hyperspace to Frantic's hidden base.
