Overview

Backgroundset (or short BGS) is a framework for images, sounds and music. It ships more than 100 sounds, images for all standard GUI-Screens, 117 maps for the LongRangeChart and enhances the overall look and feel of the game. The AddOn is expandable, highly configurable and compatible to Random Docking Music, Delightful Docking or Hyperradio. Patches for Captain Berf Pilot, CustomSounds, Halsis and Hawksound are also available. Since v1.8 it can be used with Better Screens by disabling screenbackgrounds.plist in BGS.

Oolite will never be the same. It feels like a whole new game.

• Latest version needs Oolite v1.77.
• Cabal_Common_Library1.7.
• Snoopers2.5 (v1.9).

• BGS-A1.9.zip (11.8 MB). This is the all-inclusive version to get a consistent pack. It includes BGS-C, BGS-I and BGS-M.

• BGS-C1.6.zip (1.5 MB): a modified version of Milinks/Aegidians customsounds.oxp, based on Oolite's customsounds.plist.
• BGS-I1.6.zip (4.9 MB): a set of background images, based on Oolite's screenbackgrounds.plist.
• BGS-M1.7.zip (4.3 MB): a script that controls ambient music and ambient sounds plus a few special sound effects.

For Oolite v1.76.1: Either

Due to the way the Linux Ext3 & Ext4 filesystems operate, it sometimes happens that the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch will not function as intended. If this is the case, the following patch will enable the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch to function correctly. (Note that the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch is still required.) Unzip and follow the instructions for BGS-A or BGS-M as appropriate.
