I got my first taste of Oolite at about this time; I had found the site, gotten very curious. From my very non-tech, Mac-only-guy perspective, it was alluring, and seemed wonderfully simple. I only had to download the disk image, move to the Games folder and double click. It did what it said, it was already full of Elite elements but interpreted to my Mac environment in a very clever way. So much just like the memories from almost 20 years before. I played a lot. I had to dig up the other things I remembered, search the net. The Pilot's Manual. The ship identification poster. The Dark Wheel.. |
