Overview & Download Link
This expansion pack adds three new ships to the Universe, the Python ET Special, the prototype Cobra Mk II and the Taipan.
The Python ET Special is a somewhat improved version of the Classic Python. The Cobra Mk II is, as you would expect, a better ship than the Cobra Mk I, but not as good as the trusty Cobra Mk III. The Taipan is a fighter / trader, a little faster and more maneuverable than the Cobra Mk III, but with slightly less cargo space and a higher price tag. Clicking the link for any of these ships will take you to a Wiki page giving further information about them.
All three ships are added to the game generally and are thus available to both the player and NPCs (either pirates or traders). All ships are in the Classic Elite style.
The OXP was written by Aegidian (a.k.a Giles Williams, the author of the Oolite game engine).
Difficulty Rating
"Noob". This OXP adds new ships, but the ships added are within the power-range of the Classic Elite Ships. If you chose to install this OXP more variety is added to the game. These new ships are no tougher than the ships you would encounter in the basic set. This OXP simply adds more variety to the ships you will encounter in the space lanes and find for sale in Shipyards. This OXP is a SHIPS OXP. Install it and everyone can fly these ships, the Player and NPCs alike.
Update Notes
The download link will take you to a link on Oosat2. This is the latest version of this OXP.
Installing and Playing
To play the OXP, unzip the download file. This will create a folder named "x-ships.oxp". Open this folder and you will see a folder called _MACOSC and another folder also named “x-ships.oxp". Move this folder named “x-ships.oxp” (ie the one inside the first!) to AddOns. The ships will now be added to the game generally.
