Laser weapons recoil
I don't think laser weapons have any recoil, or if it has, it shouldn't be noticeable. The photons are fired at light speed, but what does the damage isn't their kinetic energy, it's their stimulated quantic levels.
My take on it
The way I see it: 1) It's fiction 2) guns that dont recoil are boring 3) Star Wars do it, dammit!
So Im taking my literary license and making my laser guns recoil! Anyway, you could argue, that to create a steady beam of light, might be ok, but to create pulses, there needs to be a negative reaction to disengage the beam, thus creating a backwards thrust.
Also speed of light x electron mass isn't zero momentum, its just real small :)
