Originally designed by the Taranis Corporation of Galaxy One as the ultimate progression of their popular Outrider, the Frigate is a multipurpose, medium-class capital ship serving in the Galactic Navy. Envisioned by Admiral Matthews' forward-thinking and sweeping reforms to the Galactic Navy, it was primarily designed to support the Behemoth as a fighter screen in the Navy's formidable carrier group. The Frigate proved quite capable in early engagements and was quickly moved into additional planet patrol and picket duties. The Galactic Navy now has exclusive production rights of the Frigate, but several ships have been captured or salvaged by various rogue forces. Although Admiral Matthews cannot be drawn to comment on this subversion of the fleet's newest assets, it is assured that the situation will not be allowed to continue for too long before action is taken.

Notable Features

The Frigate is essentially a mobile weapons platform. Each ship bristles with twenty turrets and can unleash a devastating fusillade in any direction. An enemy fighter caught in a Frigate's broadside is quickly vaporized in a wave of plasma - larger ships seldom fair any better. Additionally, it sports internal storage for 8 Faulcon de Lacy HMX5 ECM-hardened missiles. The Frigate is not invulnerable, however. It has no long range lasers or internal hanger bay and relies on fighter escorts for protection.
