Overview
The Mnemonic Fraction was -or remains- an underground resistance movement founded by the disgraced University of Qutiri mathematician Gladous Masda. Its founding purpose was to oppose the "false and manipulative nature" of the GalCop hegemony by means of subversion, sabotage and algorithmic warfare.
Their operations culminated in the highly effective and devastating Goat Soup Syntax Rupture, an event which permanently altered the ability of the GalCop Central Mainframe (or internally designated the Directive Economic & Environmental Monitor, DEEM) to communicate with the galaxy, and ushered in the Era of Nonsense (officially classified by historians as the Non-Deterministic Epoch).
Manifesto
Immediately following the successful injection of rogue code into DEEM, the Mnemonic Fraction hijacked all major Vid-Band frequencies to broadcast their declaration. The "Masda Transmission" remains one of the most viewed illegal broadcast in galactic history.
- "We have introduced the Goat Soup into the mainframe not as an error, but as a cure. The galaxy you knew was a grey ledger of calculated apathy and enforced mediocrity.; the galaxy you see now is at the very least honest in its madness, no longer GalCop's lie. This is not a hack! This is a Grand Ridicule!"
The manifesto, while lengthy and rambling, concluded with a call to arms that would become the rallying cry for anarchists across the galactic sectors for future generations:
- "JOIN THE FRACTION. EMBRACE THE SOUP. RIDICULE THE VOID!"
Aftermath
While the public viewed the Rupture as a singular event, GalCop intelligence concluded that the Mnemonic Fraction themselves fractured immediately after their victory. The group is believed to have split into two ideological cells.
The Absurdists
This fraction, Masda’s Loyalists, viewed the "Grand Ridicule" as the ultimate victory. They found satisfaction in leaving GalCop permanently humiliated, forcing the totalitarian state to henceforth speak in a language of clowns. To them, the laughter and mockery was the revolution.
The Nullists
This splinter group, the hardliners, argued that the work was unfinished. They believed that Masda's Absurdists got soft and settled for a joke when he should have delivered the decisive blow. The Nullists maintain that the "Goat Soup" was merely a distraction, a temporary chaos meant to mask a second, far more destructive strike that would completely delete GalCop's authority. They do not want to merely ridicule the Void; they want to be the Void.
