User:Murgh/Mnemonic Fraction
Overview
The Mnemonic Fraction was -or is- an underground resistance movement founded by former University of Qutiri maths professor Gladous Masda. Its purpose was to oppose the false and manipulative nature of GalCop by means of subversion and sabotage. In this they were successful when they executed the highly effective and devastating Goat Soup Syntax Rupture, which altered the face of GalCop's ability to communicate with the galaxy and ushered in the Era of Nonsense.
Manifesto
Announcing its successful attack on the Galcop computer mainframe, the Mnemonic Fraction declaration read:
- "We have introduced the Goat Soup into the mainframe not as an error, but as a cure. This is at least not a lie; it is a Grand Ridicule!"
The manifesto was lengthy, but eventually concluded with a call to arms,
- "JOIN THE FRACTION. EMBRACE THE SOUP. RIDICULE THE VOID!"
Aftermath
Not widely known to the public was the internal status of the group after the successful attack. The Mnemonic Fraction was divided in their view of the outcome of their assault. One half, Masda and his Absurdist Sub-Fraction group, found satisfaction in leaving GalCop looking like fools in perpituity.
The other half, The Nullists, believed that the work was still unfinished, and that Masda's absurdists got cold feet before fully realising the original plan, which was a second strike to the GalCop mainframe. Adamant that the humiliating data hack was only temporary, they maintained that the follow-up hack was the essential finishing blow that would expose the true intent of GalCop.
