Hmmm... should this be put into past tense as a part of Elite History? I realise it's "current" for Oolite and Classic elite, but this isn't just an Oolite Wiki (although you'd be hard-pressed to put that case, based on recent activity :) )--RavenRed 23:06, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

are the entries incompatible? if so, the present-tense entry should maybe read (Oolite). and you're right, the Oolite Wiki is inside Category:Oolite ;) --Murgh 07:38, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry - I always write entries in present tense for Elite, since my mental timeline is in Elite/Oolite and not Frontier. I'll try and move the entry to Oolite Wiki rather than make it all past tense. --Selezen 16:04, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Well that would just be duplication, I would have thought, as GalCop is still valid information for both Frontier and FFE. --RavenRed 22:16, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

is it? I have seen Selezens time frame, but is galcop actually part of the FFE history? as someone pointed out, the original creators of the moray starboat from elite no longer exist in the FFE universe, so there is points of discontinuity. from the Frontier 'history of things to come' in the Gazette, would indicate that galcop doesn't actually fit into the picture.
218.101.54.58https://wiki.alioth.net/index.php?title=Category_talk:FFE&diff=2745Category talk:FFE2006-01-25T23:10:12Z
218.101.54.58: /* Lance and Ferman */

I was just thinking: Under FFE there is a ships sub group, but all the ships are shown in the FFE root directory as well. Already its starting to get a bit cluttered: I reckon we should just leave the ships under ships and people under people - that way its real clear what is what and where it belongs. What do you guys think?
Yeah, makes sense to me, but I'm too timid/clueless to make the necessary changes. Any volunteers? - Steve (FrontierAstro)

Oh, and also, a lot of the ships are part of FE2 as well, which complicates things.

I guess just make sure they show up under the right categories (so the FFE ships that are common to FE2 should be in both categories). See how things are shaping up over in the Oolite category. Since Oolite is much different to FFE and a bit different to Classic, ship pages (where the ship names are the same as an FFE ship) get a 'Ship Name (Oolite)' page. (Eventually, I may make disambiguation pages for these). There is also a separate 'Oolite Ships' page with a ship listing linking to the right things (and which is linked from the page on Oolite). Same with equipment. --Winston

I can't remember the specifics, i'll have to look it up before i post anything, but they made guns in the original elite. different ships and different guns, but the cobra had L&F. In FFE, guns are divided into 'beam' and 'pulse' and 'PA' weapons. there is no differentiation in price or manufacturer. do we assume then that one man makes all? or that you just get the local producer at each starport or that they all make the same thing with the same price despite being competitors? I am just wondering how to do the company Lance and Ferman in terms of FFE, asi guess technically, it isn't part of, but for all we know, it could be.

comments please.

"it can pack a punch, if it has been turned into an Iron Arse " Sadly for devotees of proper English, it is an Iron Ass... cf The Dark Wheel... --RavenRed

'Ass' is correct
I don't think Iron Ass in this context is talking about an iron rear end. From the context, or at least I infer, 'ass' means donkey-like animal; it seems that there is an undercurrent in The Dark Wheel that a slang term for your ship is 'an ass', and therefore 'an iron ass' is a well defended or strong ship. 'Ass' because most ships are capable of the unglamorous pack-animal job of trade. --Winston

Overview
The most famous starship in human history. It has a unique design which is equally capable for combat and trading and requires only a single pilot, a very important factor to many Commanders.

Notable Features
Shaped like a wide, blunt arrow head, the Cobra Mk III instils both a sense of respect and fear. Many a famous Commander has piloted a Cobra Mk 3 to infamy, such as the venerable Commander Jameson, a pioneer and hero of the Thargoid Wars.

The Cobra Mk 3 is the top of the line in its class, unmatched in terms of speed, manoeuverability, size and strength.

Disadvantages
The Cobra Mk 3 is just too small to realistically fit a 25MW Beam Weapon. As a result, some Commanders will make the jump to an Asp Explorer which can safely house such a powerful weapon.

Verdict
All Commanders should try one of these ships at some point in their career. Many are so happy with the ship that they never sell it. It is a truly multi function ship that is built into the history of humanity
218.101.54.58https://wiki.alioth.net/index.php?title=Moray_Starboat_(Frontier)&diff=1664Moray Starboat (Frontier)2006-01-11T03:04:24Z
218.101.54.58:

Overview
As its name suggests, the Moray Starboat is derived from a sea faring vessel. It is a midsized, one man starship, its size similar to a Cobra Mk I

Notable Features
The Moray Starboat looks like an upside down pyramid, with one side having a longer slope than the other. Despite its innocent appearance however, it can pack a punch, if it has been turned into an Iron Arse

Disadvantages
The Moray Starboat is an ageing design, only still popular due to its simplicity. For a ship of its class, the Moray's engines are relatively underpowered, making fleeing from combat very difficult and traversing solar systems slow

Verdict
A nice vessel to try out for awhile and of a size able to defend itself. Pilots will begin to get bored with its limitations and size and move up to the infamous Cobra Mk 3
