First Encounters/Missions

Overview

The First Encounters plot line bridges the gap between the first and last of the Elite games by bringing Humanity and Thargoids together again. Plots and subterfuge are discovered, secrets are released and shadowy government agencies are overturned. New technologies are developed and humanity travels further into the galaxy than ever before.

The player is at the centre of this plot line.

Additionally, there are several 'hand coded' missions, which do not add to the plot per se, but help to enhance the 'atmosphere' the realism of the universe that the game is set in by adding subplots to the storyline. It is a big galaxy, so there is always something happening in the back ground, whether it is a plot to destroy a Law School to stealing a prized piece of art off the Emperor.

Hand Coded Missions

Wiccan Ware Race

When: January - February 3250

News: All journals except Universal Scientist

Where: Old Curie, Gateway (-1,4)

Prerequisites: None

Reward: 1,010 Credits and good Reputation.

The job is to take a Dreamware recording by popular music group Jjagged Bbanner from Gateway to Alioth. Unfortunately, it is a race, as thousands of people attempt the job, and only the fastest gets paid. There are two main strategies to succeed in this mission:

If you are using an original version of First Encounters: You need to do a double jump to get to Alioth. Once there, lock onto your target starport, then turn the autopilot off, hold down the accelerator, to go as fast as you can. Turn on maximum stardreamer. 3-5AU out from the target, turn the autopilot back on. A few seconds later you will be ready to land. congratulations, you have just defied the laws of physics, and made a couple of bucks on the side:

If you are using JJFFE: Do the Soholia Medicine Relief run first (see below) until you can afford a Class 2 Military Drive, and then do the mission. You will still be able to win, as the program only takes into account your travel time, rather than the actual date!
