Due to the way the Linux filesystem functions, it sometimes happens that the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch will not function as intended. If this is the case, the following patch will enable the patch to function correctly.  Note that the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch is still required.  Unzip and follow the instructions for BGS-A or BGS-M as appropriate.

Overview

Backgroundset (or short BGS) is a framework for images, sounds and music. It ships more than 100 sounds, images for all standard GUI screens and enhances the overall look and feel of the game. The AddOn is expandable, highly configurable and compatible to Random Docking Music, Delightful Docking or Hyperradio. Patches for Captain Berf Pilot, CustomSounds, Halsis and Hawksound are also available.

Oolite will never be the same. It feels like a whole new game.

Features

  • FX engine sounds for player ships.
  • Radio chatter when in the aegis of the main station.
  • Music & FX when docked on all standard GUI screens.
  • All natively supported sounds by Oolite.
  • Background images for all standard GUI screens.
  • Timed countdowns (via patch for other soundpacks available too).
  • BGS-XMapping support on LongRangeChart.
  • Visual effect for jumps and exits.
  • OXPs can define own engine sounds, countdowns, chatter or music.
  • Documentation for OXP-developers and players.
  • Configurable (by editing or OXPConfig2).
  • Joystick jitter handling.
  • Pagroove has created a nice demo video -> YouTube.

Due to the way the Linux filesystem operates, it sometimes happens that the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch will not function as intended. If this is the case, the following patch will enable the patch to function correctly. Note that the Halsis_BGS1.2 patch is still required. Unzip and follow the instructions for BGS-A or BGS-M as appropriate.
